Full Dentures
Full Dentures or complete dentures are for patients where they have no teeth in an arch. It is possible to have both upper and lower full dentures, or just an upper full denture or a lower full denture.
Unfortunately, patients lose their teeth over time. When a person is missing teeth he or she will experience difficulty eating and speaking. They may also find that their face looses muscle tone and begins to sag. Dentures are a way of replacing all these lost tissues, not just the lost teeth. Historically patients lost their teeth sooner rather than later, but the current trend is towards more patients keeping their teeth for longer. Consequently, fewer patients are needing full dentures.

What are the stages of full denture construction?
Complete dentures consist of a plastic base to replicate the lost gum tissue and the teeth are acrylic or porcelain. Firstly, impressions take an image of your jaws. Secondly, a bite registration measures the way you bite. Most importantly a wax-try in of a set of mock dentures allows you to assess the appearance of the dentures. If all the stages are successful, construction of your final complete dentures takes place.
Implant Retained Dentures
Dental implants help to retain and support dentures. They are placed in the jaw bone and allow the denture to clip onto them.
Private Dentures vs NHS Dentures
A private dental technician constructs private dentures. They are made from higher grade materials and contain greater aesthetic detail than their NHS counterparts.
