Clinical Dental Technician

Steve Morris is an experienced Clinical Dental Technician (CDT) with over 18 years in prosthetic dentistry. Specialising in the design, construction, and fitting of dentures and implant-retained prosthetics, he combines technical expertise with direct patient care to deliver personalised, life-changing solutions. Known for his precision, compassion, and dedication, Steve helps patients restore not only their smiles but also their confidence and quality of life.

Professional Journey

Steve began his career with a foundation degree at Matthew Boulton College through De Montfort University, building a solid foundation in dental technology. After qualifying as a Dental Technician in 2008, he gained extensive experience across all areas of prosthetic dentistry – from traditional dentures to complex fixed and removable implant cases.

In 2018, he founded Manor Dentures, his own dental laboratory, while pursuing his ambition of becoming a Clinical Dental Technician. Balancing lab work with study at UCLan and travel to Preston, Steve qualified as a CDT with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2019. Since then, he has combined technical mastery with hands-on patient care, treating a wide variety of cases at Rock Dental.

What is a Clinical Dental Technician?

Unlike traditional dental technicians who work solely in laboratories, CDTs engage directly with patients. They are uniquely qualified to assess oral health, take impressions, and create customised prosthetic solutions that restore both function and aesthetics.

Steve’s expertise includes:

  • Complete and partial dentures
  • Implant-retained dentures and restorations
  • Complex denture cases (e.g. flabby ridges, cleft palate obturators, advanced characterisation)
  • Digital denture workflows and modern prosthetic techniques

This dual role—combining laboratory skill with patient care—makes CDTs vital members of the dental team.

Approach to Patient Care

Steve’s guiding philosophy is simple:

Treat every patient as you would if they were your own family.

He builds strong, trusting relationships with patients, tailoring treatment to individual needs. From personally carrying out urgent denture repairs on holidays, to adapting his care for patients with dementia or trauma, Steve goes above and beyond to ensure every patient feels respected and supported.

His approach is collaborative too. For more complex cases, Steve works closely with dentists and specialists to deliver integrated care plans. This teamwork ensures the very best outcomes for patients, particularly in challenging multidisciplinary cases.

Professional Contributions

Steve is committed to raising standards in his field. He has:

  • Delivered lectures on articulators and occlusal schemes at Birmingham Dental Hospital
  • Participated in peer review and study groups for clinical excellence
  • Acted as a mentor on complex, multi-disciplinary cases

Community & Charity

Beyond the clinic, Steve is actively involved in charitable and community initiatives:

  • Raised funds for the NET Foundation in memory of his cousin, including running the Birmingham Half Marathon
  • Supported Parkinson’s UK and Mind by JB through fundraising efforts
  • Sponsored Rock Dental colleagues in their own charity events
  • Volunteers as a scorer for his daughter’s U10s cricket team at Wolverhampton Cricket Club

Outside Dentistry

Away from work, Steve enjoys family life, football, and music. He is a proud Wolves supporter and loves watching his daughter play cricket. Music has also been a major part of his life—he once fronted a band that performed at iconic venues such as The Cavern in Liverpool and The Dublin Castle in Camden Town, experiences that shaped his confidence, teamwork, and connection with people.

✨ With his technical skill, patient-first ethos, and passion for transformative dentistry, Steve Morris is dedicated to providing bespoke prosthetic solutions of the highest quality. At Rock Dental, he continues to elevate the standard of care—helping patients smile, speak, and live with renewed confidence.
