Endodontic Dentistry

Dr Nicholas (Nick) Robson is a dentist with enhanced skills in endodontics (root canal treatments), known for his calm, gentle approach and commitment to changing perceptions of what can often be an anxiety-inducing procedure. Patients regularly comment on how comfortable they feel during treatment with Nick – with many even drifting off to sleep in the chair.

Clinical Expertise

Nick graduated with honours in Dentistry from Cardiff University in 2015, and later achieved his MSc in Endodontology with Distinction from the University of Central Lancashire in 2024. He focuses his practice almost exclusively on endodontics, accepting both internal and external referrals across multiple sites in the West Midlands.

His clinical expertise includes:

• Root canal treatment (primary and re-treatment)
• Management of complex anatomy with the dental operating microscope
• Endodontic microsurgery
• Post-operative restoration of root-treated teeth
• Use of advanced bioceramic sealers and regenerative techniques

Nick is also undertaking further training in IV sedation, enabling him to provide endodontic treatment for nervous patients in the most comfortable way possible.

Academic and Research Contributions

Alongside his clinical practice, Nick contributes to postgraduate education as part of the endodontic teaching team at the UCLan School of Dentistry. He is also actively involved in research, currently investigating the efficacy of different calcium silicate root canal sealers.

His academic achievements include co-authoring a peer-reviewed paper in the Journal of Orthodontics and presenting at professional meetings. He is a member of the British Endodontic Society and remains committed to continuous professional development.

Volunteering and Community Work

Nick has a strong record of community service and humanitarian work, including:

• Monthly charity sessions at Nishkam Dental Care in Birmingham, serving vulnerable groups
• Volunteering with Khalsa Aid in Kurdistan (2019), delivering urgent dental care and prevention programmes to over 100 patients in refugee camps and schools
• Leading the Cardiff University Dental Brigade to Ghana (2013–14), coordinating a 10-day project that delivered care to over 350 people with a team of students and dentists

Life at Rock Dental

Nick joined the Endodontic Team at Rock Dental in March 2025. He enjoys the supportive, multidisciplinary environment, which allows close collaboration with restorative colleagues, oral surgeons, periodontists, and treatment coordinators to achieve the best outcomes for patients. One highlight so far has been attending a Rock Dental social evening, where he was able to connect with the wider team outside the clinical setting.

Outside Dentistry

Outside of dentistry, Nick is an enthusiastic rock climber, with over five years of experience, including three years of professional coaching. He has climbed challenging mountain routes in Snowdonia, Purbeck, and Fort William. He also enjoys contributing to humanitarian projects, supporting organisations such as BOSS and MLSS, and values opportunities to combine his professional skills with service to the wider community.
